CAUT Milner Memorial Award 2009

Hugh Makepeace

In 2009, my dad, Hugh Makepeace (1926-2017), was awarded (along with 15 others) the CAUT Milner Memorial Award. The award is given for significant contributions to the cause of academic freedom. Recipients of the 2009 award had resigned to protest the firing, in 1958, of Harry S. Crowe, a professor at United College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The article below ran in the Kingston Whig-Standard on 21 Dec 2009 (Click image to Enlarge).
